Pipe coupling

The invention relates to a pipe coupling for the sealed connection of the smooth ends, e.g. the spigot ends of two pipes, which coupling comprises a sealing sleeve formed from an elastic material. The sealing sleeve exhibits axially directed sleeve-ring casing parts which enclose the pipes to be connected, from the end surfaces thereof, over parts of their axial length. The sealing sleeve exhibits, moreover, a preferably planar, strip-like, dimensionally stable sheath which reinforces and encloses said sealing sleeve radially on the outside, and further exhibits diameter-reducing clamping elements. Said clamping elements each comprise a clamping member and a clamping closure, the clamping elements interacting with guide elements integrally formed on the outer side of the sealing sleeve. Inwardly projecting supporting elements are provided on the inner side of the sleeve-ring casing parts. The sheath which reinforces and encloses the sealing sleeve radially on the outside comprises at least two ring-strip parts which engage one into the other with claw-like circumferential beads.
