The headlight has a housing (10) inside which a reflector (12) and, inserted therein, a gas discharge lamp (14) are arranged. The headlight opening (10) has a housing (20) which can be closed by means of a cover (22) which can be detached from outside the headlight housing (10). The gas discharge lamp (14) can be connected to a voltage source (26) by means of electrical lines (24) which have a plug connection (31, 32). A first plug part (31) is arranged on the headlight housing (10) and a second plug part (32) is detachably arranged outside the headlight housing (10). The detachable plug part (32) blocks the cover (22) in its position in which it closes the opening (20), so that the cover (22) can be detached for the purpose of releasing the opening (20) only after the removal of the plug part (32), which ensures that no voltage is present on parts of the headlight. <IMAGE>
