The procedure consists of emulsifying the ink before use to make it wipeable from the printing roller, using an aqueous solution which is alkaline, acid or neutral, or pure water, with the emulsion containing up to 25 percent of a surfactant to stabilise it. The emulsified ink is neutralised within the range of pH 5 to pH 10, and is separated by filtration, centrifuging, decantation or reverse osmosis so that the water content is under 40 per cent. During the procedure the pigments in the inks are completely covered and protected by water-repellant varnishes, and the water particles are situated outside them. The drying of the ink is accelerated by having less water to absorb, and the chemical resistance of the print is improved.
|
