The invention relates to a composition suitable for inhibiting potato sprouting and inhibiting the growth of fungi and decay bacteria, comprising a mixture of carvone and menthol. The invention further relates to a method for inhibiting potato sprouting by using such composition and to the use thereof. The invention additionally relates to a composition in the form of an emulsion or granulate which comprises carvone and menthol or carvone alone, giving rise to a delayed release of the active compound and an extension of the length of sprout inhibition.
