A double-walled housing comprises an inner wall 2, and an outer wall 1 enclosing a cavity under vacuum. Heat insulation material 3 at least partially fills the cavity. Heat-resistant intermediate material 4, 5 is arranged in the form of a layer between the inner wall and/or the outer wall and the heat insulation material. The density of the intermediate material is less than that of the heat insulation material. The increased porosity of the lower density intermediate material aids evacuation of the cavity.
