<p>Pump comprising three distinct series of pumping stages driven on a single shaft by the same motor. Between the first and second series of pumping stages, the liquid is diverted through a by-pass line from the pump towards, for example, a filtration device, for removing as many impureties as possible. The filtered liquid is then conveyed back to the second series of pumping stages of the pump where the liquid is pumped at high pressure before being conveyed through a by-pass line from the pump towards a treatment chamber, especially a chamber for reverse osmosis, nanofiltration or the like. The permeate is removed from the system while the greater part of the solute is reconveyed to a third series of treatment stages, where it is mixed at the discharge end with the filtered liquid from the second series of stages, and then conveyed again to the treatment chamber. This high yield system does away with the need for a second or third pump. The pump can also be used to pump independently, i.e. without mixture, more than one liquid. In this case, the pumping stages are once again separated from one another, with each stage pumping its respective liquid. The stages are capable of pumping liquids with different discharge rates and at different pressures.</p> |
