PURPOSE: A composition containing a Selaginella tamariscina Spring extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient is provided to control the secretion of cortisol. CONSTITUTION: A composition for controlling the secretion of cortisol contains a Selaginella tamariscina Spring extract or a fraction thereof; and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The composition contains 0.02-50 wt% of the extract or the fraction. The extract is prepared using water, C1-C4 alcohols, or a mixture thereof. The C1-C4 alcohols are methanol or ethanol.
