PURPOSE:To enhance the utilization of an active material by filling an alkaline active material slurry in a substrate, drying, pressing, and washing, then heat- treating. CONSTITUTION:An alkaline active material slurry prepared by kneading a mixture of Ni(OH2, Co or cobalt compound such as Co(OH)2 and CoO, and an alkali is filled in a substrate made of a conductive metallic porous body. The substrate filled with the slurry is dried, pressed, and washed, then heat- treated at about 80-120 deg.C for 5-600 minutes. The generation of insoluble CoO2 or gamma-NiOOH is retarded, and an electrode with high active material utilization can be obtained. |
