ROUTE GUIDANCE APPARATUS FOR AUTOMOBILE

PURPOSE:To make it possible to implement route guidance quickly and smoothly by setting a running route itself desired by a driver by a line-drawing input on a map display screen. CONSTITUTION:A wide ranging map data is stored in a map data base 12 and it is accessable from a route plan device 16 and a data processor 18. The current position data of own vehicle recognized by a normal position device 14 is outputted to the devices 16 and 18. A desired running route data line- drawing inputted by a data input device 24 is outputted to the devices 16 and 18. The device 16 retrieves the data base 12 to make a plan of the optimum running route based on the desired running route set by the device 24. The device 18 performs a data processing for the route guidance of the own vehicle based on the running route planed by the device 16. Then, the running route is presented to the driver with an image and voice using an image output device 20 and a voice output device 22.
