FOAMING INSERT FOR A BEVERAGE CONTAINER

An insert (20) is provided containing gas under pressure, for insertion in a carbonated beverage can (11) to nucleate release of gas from solution when the can is opened. The insert has a jetting orifice (25) closed by a burstable sealing strip (26) which is held closed until the can is opened. The insert may be weighted (24) to float in a given orientation with the jetting orifice submerged. The sealing strip may be made of moisture sensitive material, which weakens in the can and ruptures on opening of the can. Alternatively, a moisture sensitive adhesive may be used. The insert may be pre-charged with non-oxidising gas under pressure, or may be pressurised by gas from the beverage.
