PURPOSE:To obtain the fiber having a combination of excellent antimicrobial properties and high flame retardancy by fixing a specific antimicrobial to the surface of flame-retardant acrylic fiber. CONSTITUTION:The objective acrylic fiber is produced by treating flameretardant acrylic fiber, preferably the acrylic fiber produced from an acrylonitrile copolymer containing a halogen-containing monomer so that the halogen content amounts for 20 to 37wt.% based on the total weight, further containing 0.5 to 4wt.%, based on the polymer of particulate antimony pentoxide and 0.05 to 0.5wt.% of a UV absorber with an emulsified dispersion of 3, 4, 4'-trichlorocabanilide, a polyhydric alcohol and a nonionic surfactant of polyoxyethylene in water through the pad-nip drying process to fix the antimicrobial to the fiber surface. The fibers according to the invention are useful as fiber products in kitchens where attention should be paid to fire and hygiene. |
