SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MEMORY PROVIDED WITH REDUNDANCY MANAGEMENT FUNCTION

PURPOSE: To provide a memory system which has high performance, high data availability (reliability) and a redundancy function at a relatively low storage cost. CONSTITUTION: The memory system 10 has plural disks 12 which can store data according to the redundancy of a mirror and parity. A part of an applicable storage space is allocated for the mirror redundancy and another part of it is allocated for the parity redundancy in the available storage space offered by all the disks 12. A RAID management system 16 adjusts the ratio of redundancy storage of the mirror and parity in response to an application characteristic.
