The femoral shaft for a hip prosthesis has, over its entire length, an open channel (1a) which allows cement (C) to be injected in the liquid state from the proximal part as far as its distal end in such a way that the said cement, upon striking against a closure member (2) previously arranged in the bottom of the medullary cavity, gradually rises back up as far as the proximal part, thereby filling the said medullary cavity. <IMAGE>
