The invention relates to a method of recording information on at least one face of an optical disc, in the form of a succession of micropits along a spiral track, and of reproducing these data by reading with the aid of a light beam. The method is characterised in that information is recorded also on the other face (7) of the disc, in the form of micropits (5) made in this face, the two faces (6, 7) of the disc are left free of any reflective coating and the information recorded is read with the aid of a light beam which passes through the disc and of which only a relatively small portion is reflected at each face of the disc (3). The invention is useful in the field of the manufacture of optical discs.
