In order to make the electrostatic fringe field (edge field, boundary field) of windings (5, 7) uniform in the case of transformers, it is proposed to arrange conductive inserts (17a, 17b) concentrically in the end region of the windings (5, 7). The electrostatic fringe field is homogenised by the conductive inserts (17a, 17b), which in turn results in the insulation cost being reduced. The conductive inserts (17a, 17b) are preferably arranged in the fringe region of the windings (5, 7) by means of solid insulation (15), the distance between the respective conductive inserts (17a, 17b) being the same. <IMAGE>
