<p>Sepn. of water, 5- and 6-C hydrocarbon and O-contg. impurities from propylene oxide (PO) comprises (i) extractive distn. with a 2-6C alkylene glycol extractant to give a light fraction comprising PO, the hydrocarbons, the O-contg. impurities and part of the initial water content; (ii) distn. of this light fraction in a second distn. column and 3rd and 4th extractive distn. columns in presence of an 8-10C alkane hydrocarbon extractant to give a prod. consisting of PO and a minor amt. of water; and (iii) extractive distn. of the prodn. in a 5th column in presence of a 2-6C alkylene glycol extractant to give a dehydrated PO fraction.</p> |
