PURPOSE:To obtain a sufficiently densified ceramic base having excellent moisture resistance, water resistance, etc., colored in gray or black, by blending glass powder and its crystalline granules with a specific metal compound, baking the blend in a prescribed temperature range. CONSTITUTION:In production of a ceramic base by blending glass powder and its crystalline granules with a metal compound, baking the blend at >=850 deg.C and <1,000 deg.C, the metal compound is one or more selected from Cr, Ti, Cu, Mn, Co and Fe compounds or mixtures of these compounds. In this method, the ceramic base is colored in gray or black by existence or the metal compound, is sufficiently densified, has excellent moisture resistance and water resistance and can prevent transmission of ultraviolet light. |
