Quality control of enamel insulation on a wire can be performed by electrical measurement between the inner wire material and a conductive coating on the outside of the insulation layer in conjunction with a wire sample 40 being subjected to a heating sequence by controlled heating from or in a surrounding heating block 42, 44, 4. According to the invention, this block is made from a material with low specific heat, namely aluminium, in which way successive heating sequences can be arranged rapidly one after another, and the block is also divided into a stationary heating block 4 and a sample mounting block 42, 44 which can be inserted therein and is specially adapted for easy and rapid installation of wire samples. As a result, the control apparatus can be made at a very reduced price with the possibility of advantageous use in a far greater number than previously. <IMAGE>
