Bicycle chain derailleur device including a horizontal spindle oriented transversely to the axis of the bicycle, on which is pivotally mounted a cage bearing chain guide rollers, characterised in that the positioning of the pivot pin (2) for the said cage, the pin (3) of the derailleur roller (g.d.) and the pin (4) of the chain tensioner roller (g.t.) are determined with respect to the axis (1) of the hub and to the diameters of the sprockets used, so as to ensure, on each change of sprocket, a downshift or upshift by a value substantially corresponding to the difference in radius between the sprocket left and the sprocket engaged. <IMAGE>
