A process and an apparatus for the production of a twine. The apparatus possesses a spindle rotor (1) with a radially outward-guided thread-guide channel (1.4) following the spindle hollow shaft (1.2). The spindle rotor (1) forms the bottom of a pot. The outlet orifice (1.5) of the thread-guide channel (1.4) is located directly in front of the inner face of the pot (2). Two rotor spinning apparatuses (7-8; 10-11) are arranged one above the other in the pot. Guided into the spindle rotor is a feed conduit (6) for fibre material, which is divided into two branch conduits (6.1-6.2, 6.4) which are guided radially outwards and then upwards parallel to the spindle shaft within the wall (2). Each branch conduit is followed inwards by a supply pipe (6.3, 6.5) which opens into the rotor (8, 11) of one of the rotor spinning apparatuses. The thread-discharge pipes (7.1; 10.1) of the rotor spinning apparatuses extend coaxially relative to the spindle hollow shaft (1.2). The fibre material is spun in the rotor spinning apparatuses, in each case to form a thread which is discharged through the thread-guide channel (1.4) and the thread balloon adjacent to the inside (2) of the pot.
