The invention relates to an apparatus for gluing strip- or band-shaped edge material (K) to edges, already form-cut with respect to the contour, of plate-shaped workpieces (W), having a fixed work table, a supporting member (1), which can be guided around the workpiece along the workpiece edge via a slide and guiding arrangement, and having a pressure roller (12) adapted to press the edge material onto the workpiece edge. By virtue of the features according to the invention, the pressure roller (12) is always automatically set in one axial plane, by virtue of its special mounting in a slide unit (2), independent of the supporting member (1), together with a special arrangement of its axis of rotation (DD) with respect to the pivot axis (ST) of the supporting member (1), so that the edge material is pressed onto the workpiece edge with a constant pressing force by the pressure roller, irrespective of the position of the supporting member at any point on the contour.
