PURPOSE:To obtain a ground detecting system capable of preventing the generation of a void in a highlight part of a pattern area in an output picture due to ground removing processing and suppressing the deterioration of picture quality by highly accurately separating and respectively detecting the highlight area of a pattern part and the ground area of an original in the case of executing the ground removing processing of the color original including the pattern. CONSTITUTION:In the ground detecting system, a color original is read out and its ground is detected. The system is provided with the 1st detecting means 31 for detecting each low density picture element and the 2nd detecting means for detecting each picture element included in a pattern highlight area and detects the ground of the original based upon the detection results of the 1st and 2nd detecting means 31, 32. |
