PURPOSE:To stably provide a fused carbonate type fuel cell of a long lifetime by composing a porous material impregnated with an electrolyte made of alkaline carbonate in such a manner as to include mainly an alpha-lithium aluminate particle, a lithium zirconia particle and the like. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte plate where an electrolyte composed of alkaline carbonate (a mixture of Li2CO3 with K2CO3 or the like) is impregnated into a porous material is used as a fused carbonate type fuel cell. The porous material includes mainly a holding material particle incorporating at least one kind of particle selected from an alpha-lithium aluminate particle, a lithium zirconia particle, a stabilizing zirconia particle, a lithium tantalate particle, a lithium niobate particle and a lithium titanate particle, and a reinforcing material. A volumetric ratio of an alpha-lithium aluminate particle to other particles is set to 9:1 to 5:5, and a particle diameter of the holding material particle of 80% or more is set within + or -60%. Consequently, it is possible to reduce leakage of an electrolyte from the electrolyte plate. |
