The invention relates to an arrangement of a cross-country ski binding (10) and a cross-country ski boot (12) adapted thereto which, at the front of its sole, has engagement elements which can be introduced into complementary engagement elements of the binding (10) to produce a hinge-like connection. In this arrangement the engagement elements on the sole have a hinge axis (22) extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the ski and approximately parallel to the running surface (14) of the sole of the cross-country ski boot (12), and the complementary engagement elements on the binding have a retaining hook (26) with a U-shaped retaining stirrup (36) which engages behind the axis (22) of the hinge and forms a hinged joint therewith. Said stirrup can be moved out of a closed position into a release position and vice versa. The hinge-like connection between the hinge axis (22) and the retaining hook (26) or the assigned retaining stirrup (36) is designed so that the running surface (14) of the sole of the cross-country ski boot (12) is retained in the region of the ball of the foot (18) on the top surface (46) of the ski body (32). In addition, an elastically deformable element (flexor 48), acting between the running surface (14) of the sole of the cross-country ski boot (12) and the top surface (46) of the ski body (32), is arranged on the top surface (46) of the ski body (32), between the hinge-like connection and the front end (50) of the binding (10), in order to resiliently support the cross-country ski boot (12).
