摘要 Orthogonal mode waveguide couplers, which have a waveguide junction in which a coupling window is located, are used to break down electromagnetic waveguide fields into components which are linear-polarised orthogonally. The feature of the new orthogonal mode coupler is coupling windows of grating designs by means of which considerably better characteristics are achieved (Figure). The invention relates to the coupling window with special polarisation-selective inserts. The example (Figure) shows a window having a plurality of thin webs which run parallel. Very good decoupling values, low forward losses and suitable matching values in conjunction with large relative bandwidths are achieved by optimisations relating to the number and thickness of the webs, the overall size of the window and its position in the waveguide junction. Linear-polarised orthogonal mode waveguide couplers of grating design are used where a number of frequencies are utilised, for example satellite television, communications, data transmission, telemetry, radar technology and for polarisation diversity operation. <IMAGE>
