The scanning apparatus includes a video signal detector, an analogue/digital converter for converting the output of the video signal detector to a digital signal, a controller for controlling the operating of each part of the scanning apparatus according to the output signal of the converter, vertical and horizontal synchronous signal, a plurality of buffers for temporarily storing the output signal of the converter according to the control signal of the controller, a multiplexor for selecting a data signal stored in one buffer, a digital/analogue converter for converting the output of the multiplexor to an analogue signal, a laser beam generator for generating laser beam corresponding to the output signal of the digital/analogue converter, and a polyhedral mirror for scanning the output signal of the laser beam generator according to the control signal.
