Described is a device for inert-gas-shielded welding having a metallic nozzle body (5), a sleeve (9) surrounding the latter at a distance, and a non-metallic protective body (13) which is attached to the open end (11) of the sleeve (9) or formed integrally with the sleeve (9) and has an end wall (15) and at least one opening, the cleaning of which device is made possible, not in the known manner with a direction of movement from the outside inwards, but precisely with the opposite direction of movement by providing at least one movement means (21, 33), through which the nozzle body (5) and the sleeve (9) are arranged so as to be displaceable relative to one another by means of a linear or a rotary movement. The cleaning agents are thus already situated inside the device for inert-gas-shielded welding itself. In the method for cleaning the device for inert-gas-shielded welding, the nozzle body (5) is displaced by a movement means (21, 33) relative to the sleeve (9) by means of a linear or a rotary movement until the nozzle body (5) has passed through the opening in the end wall (15) of the protective body (13) and projects outwards beyond the end wall (15). <IMAGE>
