PURPOSE:To obtain an electric field ion exchanger capable of inexpensively and safely separating and purifying a water-soluble substance within a short time by bonding an ion exchange group to the surface of a flat plate composed of a high-molecular compound through a covalent bond and superposing some flat plates thus treated one upon another at a definite distance. CONSTITUTION:An ion exchange group such as a sulfonic acid group is bonded to the surface of a flat plate 1 composed of a high-molecular compound such as polystyrene through a covalent bond. Some flat plates thus treated are superposed one upon another at a definite distance in distilled water to form an ion exchanger having electric fields. When a uniform equal electric field is applied to the electric field ion exchanger thus obtained, the separation and purification of water-soluble matter, protein or nucleic acid can be easily performed inexpensively and safely within a short time. |
