PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound exhibiting glutamic acid receptor blocking effect and useful as a treating agent 'for nervous diseases, especially nervous disorder such as Huntington's disease and geriatric dementia and also useful as a tool for the neurological research of these nervous diseases. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I [A<1> is Phe residue, Trp residue,' etc.; A<2> is Asn residue or Glu residue; X is group of formula II or III (A<3> is Arg residue, Lys residue, etc.; (m) and (n) are 2-5; Y is H or hydroxymethyl; (q) is 2-5; Z is amino, guanidino, etc.)] or its salt, e.g. the compound of formula IV. This compound can be produced e.g. by homogenizing the poison gland of a spider of the genus Caerostris in a hydrated organic solvent such as hydrated acetone, separating the obtained homogenate by centrifugal separation and purifying the supernatant by reversed phase chromatography until a single peak is developed at 215nm by an ultraviolet absorption monitor. |
