PURPOSE:To exactly establish the frame synchronization of a digital video signal at an early stage in the transmitter-receiver of the digital video signal of an HDTV. CONSTITUTION:In a transmitter (transmitting part), a line number is added in the entire horizontal blanking periods of the digital video signal by a line number multiplexing circuit 12, and transmitted. In a receiver(receiving part), the line number added in the transmitting part is detected by a line number detecting circuit 14. The establishment of the frame synchronization is discriminated from the line number detected by a synchronization establishment discriminating circuit 15, so that a video frame can be early established when the inputted digital video signal is changed.
