PURPOSE:To improve the fault detection rate in a fault detection system which detects the fault of a function block (like a random logic) in an integrated circuit. CONSTITUTION:An input pattern in an input pattern holding part 45 corresponding to a signal inputted to a random logic part 2 is detected by a detecting part 46. An expected value pattern corresponding to the input pattern detected by the detecting part 46 is transmitted from an expected value pattern holding part 52 to a comparator 6. The comparator 6 compares the output of the random logic part 2 with this expected value pattern, and the comparison result is processed by an error processing circuit 7. This circuit 7 stores contents of the error in an error register 8 and enables them to be outputted to the outside of a fault detecting circuit 101b by a data bus 34. Contents of the error are statistically processed, and data in the input pattern holding part 45 and the expected value pattern holding part 52 are properly rewritten by control parts 44 and 51 to improve the fault detection rate. |
