<p>PURPOSE: To constitute an ultrasonic converter having converter elements mounted with a high package density for forming a two-dimensional matrix array in a relatively simple way and, in addition, to secure the no-disturbance drive of the converter. CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic converter provided with a one- or two-dimensional array of converter elements 4j has at least one platy part. This part incorporates an acoustic damping body 3 on the narrow-width surface 3c of which the converter elements 4j provided with piezoelectric oscillators and electrodes are arranged, an electronic circuit section 17a, and conductors 10a which connect the electronic circuit section 17a to the electrodes. In each converter element 4j , the electrode is arranged between the oscillator of the element 4j and the damping body 3 and has a connecting section which is guided on the wide surface 3a of the damping body 3 for conductors 10a, and the electronic circuit section 17a and a belt-like support body 14 having cooling passages 20 and 21 existing on the wide surface 3a of the damping body 3 are coupled with the body 3.</p> |
