TREATMENT OF ANORECTAL DISORDERS

A method for the treatment of anorectal conditions in animals is described. The method involves administrating to a subject in need of such treatment an effective amount of at least one substance which mediates relaxation of the anal sphincter. Compounds particularly indicated for the relaxation of the anal sphincter are those which are a source of nitric oxide or carbon monoxide.
