PURPOSE:To avoid an excess grinding and a deficit grinding by providing a grinding material part and a reproducing track part at a tape and detecting the grinding of a head by the tape and simultaneously, the reproduction output. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary head type recording and reproducing device is assembled, a head 8 to load a rotary drum 7 to a tape traveling system (not shown in the figure) and execute the grinding of the head 8 with a tape 104 for lapping scans in the slanting direction on a tape, and by repeatedly scanning the surfaces of a reproducing track part 103 and an abrasive powder part 105 the head 8 is gradually ground. Here, the signal which is detected when the head 8 scans a recorded reproducing track 103 is sent to a sequence circuit 15, a head output is inputted to the circuit 15 with an S21, the reproducing output level is detected by an S22 and it is judged whether or not the level arrives at a prescribed set level with a next S23. When the level arrives at the satisfactory reproducing output level with an S24, a head grinding is automatically stopped and a head output adjustment is completed. When the S23 reproducing output level does not arrive at the set level, the process of S21-S23 is repeated by the process of the grinding continuation with an S25. |
