PURPOSE:To easily find out a target object on a displayed road map without worsening maneuverability in a change in a course such as a left turn, a right turn or the like by a method wherein the road map in which the direction upward in the display screen is used as a reference direction is displayed and a vehicle symbol and a direction symbol are displayed. CONSTITUTION:A control apparatus 20 contains a CPU 22, a ROM 24, a RAM 26, an input/output port 28 and the like, they are connected by a bus line 30, and a road map or the like is displayed on a display device 14 via a display driving device 34. The CPU 22 displays the road map on the display device 14 in such a way that a vehicle position detected by a GPS receiver 2 on the basis of data, on a map, which is stored in an external storage device 6 becomes a specific position in the center of a display screen and that the direction upward in the display screen becomes a reference direction. Then, the display driving device 34 displays a vehicle position and a vehicle symbol indicating the direction of the traveling of the vehicle in the specific position in the center of the screen of the display device 14. In addition, the direction symbol indicating the reference direction is displayed in an upper-part position in the center of the display screen of the display device 14. |
