The invention relates to winders/unwinders for cables, hoses or electrical or fibre-optic probe carriers. It includes a winch (1) on to which a flexible hose (2) can be wound, inside which hose it is possible, if appropriate, to arrange wires or optical fibres. The rotary movement of the winch is obtained by means of the thrust of a jack (ram), the body (3) of which is secured to the frame (5), whilst the piston (4) is secured to the winch (1). This thrust is converted into rotation by virtue of the screw (6), fastened on the shaft (7), the nut (8) of which is secured to the frame (5). The torque (turning moment) of the winch is controlled by the gas pressure introduced into the jack by the hose (9). The invention may be used in all cases where a hose, cable, wire or optical fibre has to be wound with care and precision. <IMAGE>
