PURPOSE:To allow estimation of shape through single processing by picking up the image of an object only once in a plurality of directions if the shape thereof is simple and measuring the three-dimensional shape thereof. CONSTITUTION:When an object 10 mounted on a carrying table 1J is set at a predetermined position, it is irradiated with slit lights 1C, 1D projected from laser light sources 1A, 1B while intersecting perpendicularly. Images picked up by cameras 1E-1H are fed to a CPU where the height information is calculated for all points on the slit lights 1C, 1D and stored in main and auxiliary memories. When some basic patterns are stored, the shape of the object 10 can be estimated by matching the height information with the stored basic pattern only once so long as the object 10 has simple shape. Furthermore, when overall length, volume, width, and curves face are applied, as feature amount, to minimum double error method, for example, rough shape features can be determined. |
