A device for tightly connecting two mutually opposite pipe ends (1, 2), provided in each case with a socket sleeve (5) connected to one end (2), a tubular insert (4) connected to the other pipe end (1) and receiving the socket sleeve (5), wherein the tubular insert (4) and the socket sleeve (5) each have a flanged edge (6, 7) fixedly connected thereto, which are mutually abutting in mounted situation, a divided U-shaped ring (10) arranged round the flanged edge periphery and an element (15) holding together the ring parts (10), with which assembly and disassembly can take place in very simple manner without arranging additional auxiliary means.
