The present invention relates to a method for operating a conveyor pipeline (1) with pneumatic dense-stream conveyance and to an apparatus for carrying out the method. In this dense-stream conveyance, there is arranged in the bypass to a conveyor pipeline (1) a secondary pipeline (13), from which branch off supply pipelines which open into the conveyor pipeline at regular intervals via associated overflow valves. By means of laval ball valves, the apparatus makes it possible to employ a method, in which, via preventive temporary pressure increase, air is additionally blown off into the conveyor pipeline (1) via a determinable number of relief valves at predetermined time intervals by the assignment and variation of specific bypass air quantities, in order thereby to prevent the formation of blockages even during the conveyance of bulk materials. <IMAGE>
