<p>An infinite hydraulic check (40) for use with a door that maintains the door in any position until an appropriate check effort is applied to release the door from the position. The check includes an annular needle cavity (114) with a closed first portion (118) and a second portion (120), the second portion (120) including a by-pass port (122) along an inner circumference. An annular needle (126) is received in the needle cavity (114). The by-pass port (122) is obstructed when the needle (126) is in a partial open position. Hydraulic fluid driven through an inlet orifice (154) gradually displaces fluid from the closed first portion (118) of the cavity (114), forcing the needle (126) further into the cavity (114), unobstructing the by-pass port (122) and permitting increased fluid flow. The controlled activation of the damped check release (40) reduces noise.</p> |
