PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound useful as a color developer for leuco dye of a heat-sensitive recording material having excellent developed image stability. CONSTITUTION:An isophthalic acid compound of the formula, i.e., 5- benzyloxycarbonylisophthalic acid. This compound can be produced by reacting 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid with benzyl chloride in the presence of sodium hydroxide. A heat-sensitive recording material produced by using the compound of the formula as a color developer is free from fading of the developed image with time or white powder phenomenon and has extremely high stability. Further, the recording material has extremely excellent image stability to give a developed color image resistant to fading with oil, fat, plasticizer, etc. The weight ratio of the leuco dye to the compound of the formula is preferably 1 to 1-6. |
