Process and apparatus for sealing a dome shaft

In a process for sealing a dome shaft in which a tank dome 12, with fastening flange 15, is spaced apart from a dome cover shaft base 19, first of all the shaft base 19 is filled with a bed of sand 39, approximately up to the region of the fastening flange 15 for the dome cover 13, and levelled, then HDPE sealing-web segments 20 to 23 which overlap one another in the border region in each case are laid out around the tank dome 12 with upwardly angled-off wall-fastening regions and, if appropriate, separately sealed pipe lead-throughs 18, and subsequently an HDPE sealing-web segment 35, which overlaps the HDPE sealing-web segments 20 to 23 and can be fastened on the flange 15 on the tank-dome side, is laid out above said HDPE sealing-web segments 20 to 23 and, finally, all the overlap regions 27 to 30 are sealed. The tank-dome-side segment is fastened by means of a split pressing ring, and the wall-fastening sections are fastened by means of nails, dowels with screws or the like. Provision is further made for a covering by means of a protective nonwoven and concrete slabs arranged thereabove up to the level of the dome cover 13. As a result, secure and reliable sealing is achieved. <IMAGE>
