Up until now, the releasable connection of two pipes which consist of a rigid material and are of different external diameters of up to approximately 1000 mm has required a special device for each pipe connection and for each difference in pipe external diameter. The novel device, using conventional pipe connectors, is intended to connect pipes of a difference in pipe external diameter of up to approximately 30 mm. The profile seal of a known device is configured, for the thinner of two pipes which are to be connected, such that it predominantly has a cross-section which tapers conically in the direction of the pipe (7) with the larger external diameter and can be adjoined by beads for fixing the bushing (2) and for centring the flange part (1).
