A hydraulic pump of the rotary-vane type contains a first choke bore (23) and a second choke bore (24), which are arranged in parallel between a pressure chamber (8) of the pump and a delivery passage (13), and a variable flow choke valve (27, 28, 29) which depends on a difference between a vane retention pressure and a pressure of the delivery passage so that the degree of opening of the first choke bore (23) varies.
