<p>A cap (1) forms a securely sealed closure when used in combination with a container (10) including a screw thread neck finish. The resilient cap (1) has locking ribs (3) which engage the screw thread of the neck finish. The cap (1) can be snapped, twisted, or both snapped and twisted onto and off the container (10). The inner diameter of the cap (1) and the outer dimension of the screw thread on the container (10) are of sufficiently small tolerance, as are the thread and angular locking rib inner diameters, to provide multiple axially displaced alignment means. In addition, a locking collar can be placed over the cap to increase the pressure at the three points of contact (14, 16, 18). A pull tab can be used in conjunction with the cap (with or without the locking collar) to facilitate removal of the cap (1) from the container (10).</p> |
