PURPOSE:To provide a charger for electric cars capable of preventing the misstarting of a vehicle whose vehicle-side connector is connected to a charging power source-side connector. CONSTITUTION:A connection detecting circuit 11 is provided for judging the connected condition of both connections, on the basis of the detected signal of an optical type connection detecting sensor 10 for detecting the connected condition of a vehicle-side connector 1 with a power-source-side connector 2. And, if the connection detecting circuit 11 judges that both connectors are in a connected state, a connector connected signal is outputted to a display part 7, and a motor control inhibiting signal is outputted to a control circuit 6. Consequently, a control circuit 6 stops the control of a motor 5, and the motor 5 becomes an unoperable state, and it becomes possible to prevent a vehicle under charging operation from misstarting. |
