PURPOSE:To suppress the warp of a substrate as well as to reduce the scratchability of the surface of the substrate and to obtain an optical recording medium excellent in signal writing and reading characteristics. CONSTITUTION:This optical recording medium with a plastic substrate enables writing and/or reading of information by irradiation with laser light from the substrate side and has a transparent thin polymer film on the irradiated surface of the substrate. The polymer film is formed as follows: a multifunctional deriv. obtd. by modifying three or more hydroxyl groups in a dehydration condensation product. of pentaerythritol or its di- to hexamer with an acrylate is mixed with polyvinylpyrrolidone, hydroxydicyclopentadienyl monoacrylate and 9C fraction-based petroleum resin so that the amt. of the petroleum resin does not exceed 15wt.% of the total amt. and the resulting mixture is made insoluble by crosslinking. |
