PURPOSE:To eliminate the wasteful cost coming from the consumption of a color toner by setting a test mode for printing data of 1 to 3 colors by a developer of one color out of density data of four Y, M, C, and K primary colors. CONSTITUTION:In a process step S1, image signals from a host computer are transmitted to a CPU through an interface and detected. In a process step S2, the image signals are decomposed for every color component and stored in page memories for every color. In a process step S3, whether a test mode or a multicolor mode is set is identified. in the test mode, all color data is thinned out to a toothless state, and the other remaining data is developed by a developer of one or more colors. In the multicolor mode, data of each color is developed by a developer of an appropriate color. In the former mode, the process is advanced to a step SR, wherein data of each color stored in the page memory for every color is arbitrarily fetched therefrom, and a latent image is formed. In a step S5, the latent image is developed to just a color K (black). |
