CONTROL OF POSITION OF SHIFTER OF COKE OVEN

PURPOSE:To provide a control method whereby a shifter which moves along the coking chambers of a coke oven can be stopped at the middle position of the opening of a specified coking chamber in high precision without fail, and can be automatically operated. CONSTITUTION:Code signals of ID tags 28A to 28D mounted on the side of the respective coking chambers 11 of a coke oven are read with readers 32A to 32D mounted on the side of shifters 12 and 15 to discriminate a specified coking chamber 11. The target positions of targets 29A to 29C mounted on the side of the respective coking chambers 11 and detecting the middle position of the coking chamber 11 and positions proximate to the target positions are gradually detected with distance measurement sensors 35A to 35C attached on the side of shifters 12, 15 and 18 to detect the middle position of the opening of the specified coking chamber 11, and the shifters 12, 15 and 18 are stopped at the predetermined position of the coking chamber 11.
