The new step (7) which fits on the old step (6) is covered by a profiled rail (8) having an outwardly pointing lower arm (13). A second profiled rail (16) has an outwardly pointing arm engaging underneath the underside of the front panel (17) and having an inwardly pointing attachment to form a longitudinal groove (22). The second rail together with the front panel is inserted into the first profiled rail so that the lower arm of the first rail engages in the groove of the second rail and the upper edge of the second rail engages in the groove (11) of the first rail. An angle member (1) which encloses the front edge of the old step is adjoined on its vertical arm by the first profiled rail.
